About TV PINs

TalkTalk TV has two different PINs that you'll need to manage different features of the TV service separately. Make sure you keep your PINs safe so they're ready for when you need to use them, and we recommend setting both PINs as the same to make them easier to remember. For the YouView PIN, you can also set a security question to add an extra layer of security. You'll be prompted to do this the first time you change your YouView PIN.

What are the TV  PINs for?

Add  The TalkTalk PIN 

  • Make purchases for rentals & Boosts 
  • Prevent purchases being made by mistake
  • Find it in your welcome pack or view/change it in the PIN section of My Account 
  • Set as default to the last 4 digits of your phone number
  • Choose to remember your PIN on entry (select this option on screen), or to clear a saved PIN follow the steps below.

Add  The YouView PIN & security question

  • Manage parental controls to keep the little ones safe from unsuitable content
  • Set as default to 1 2 3 4 (if you had an engineer install they'll have changed it to match your TalkTalk PIN. For speedy installs, you can change it yourself)
  • To change your YouView PIN press the YouView button followed by the settings menu > parental controls > change PIN and update it.
  • On the 1st PIN change, you'll be asked to set a security question. You can manage this in settings menu > parental controls > change security question.
  • If you've lost your PIN and forgotten the answer to your security question you'll need to reset your Box back to factory settings.


How do I clear my saved TalkTalk PIN?

If you've opted to remember your TalkTalk PIN when purchasing content, you'll have the option to clear the saved PIN every time you make a purchase. If you've saved your PIN and then changed it in My Account your YouView Box will automatically remember the new PIN.

To clear the saved PIN follow the steps:


On your remote press the i button to change the PIN settings


Press OK to clear your PIN.

From now on you'll be prompted to enter your PIN when making purchases
