On YouView you can control On Demand and recorded (on YouView+) content and even Live TV just like you do with a DVD. It’s one of TalkTalk TV’s many features that helps you ensure you don’t miss a second of the action.
With YouView and YouView+ you can pause and rewind any programming that appears on your screen. This includes all Freeview channels, On Demand content, Internet Boost channels (like Sky Sports and Sky Movies) and recorded content (on YouView+).
Pausing, rewinding and controlling programmes on your YouView or YouView+ Box varies a little, depending on whether you are watching live TV or On Demand and recorded content. For more information, select an option from below:
One of the many features of TalkTalk TV is the ability to pause and rewind live TV.
When you start watching a programme in the YouView guide (Freeview channels only) or TalkTalk Player (internet channels only), it will start being stored as temporary content from the moment you switch to it. You can store up to 2 hours on the YouView+ box and about 30 minutes on the YouView box of temporary standard definition content (HD varies at about 10 minutes on the YouView box) .
When you rewind live TV to a previous point, this is known as delayed TV. You'll be able to rewind through all the temporary content you have stored on your box. You will only be able to rewind to the point where you started viewing the channel and you can only store delayed TV of the channel currently being viewed.
By pressing the pause button you’ll be able to pause the programme, which also puts you in delayed TV.
When you're in delayed TV you'll also be able to fast forward You'll be able to fast forward up to the point the channel has reached in real-time, but no further.
When you enter delayed TV or when you press the fast forward button, you’ll see a time bar at the bottom of the screen. This shows you the limit of how far you can rewind or fast forward.
You can play live TV at any time by pressing play .
To exit delayed TV, simply change to a different channel in the YouView programme guide or press the stop button on your TalkTalk remote. Don't worry though, a warning will be displayed when you are about to exit delayed TV.
Once you've exited delayed TV, this will delete your temporary content, meaning you'll no longer be able to rewind through it.
While the controls are the same, On Demand content doesn’t have the same limitations as live TV. You will be able to rewind to the beginning of the show, fast forward to the end and everything in between. You can even skip instantly to the beginning of a show by pressing .
