How do I set up my Powerline Adapters?

You can connect TalkTalk Powerline Adapters to any device that can make a wired connection using an Ethernet cable, like desktop computers, laptops and some games consoles like Xbox 360.

If you have a big house with thick walls and you have trouble picking up wireless in certain parts of the house, or you simply can’t find an Ethernet cable that’s long enough, a Powerline Adapter could be the perfect way to increasing the range of your router.

You can set up your Powerline Adapters by following the steps below:

  1. Plug one adapter into a socket close to your router
  2. Connect one end of the yellow Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your Powerline Adapter
  3. Plug the other end into one of the yellow sockets at the back of the router where it says LAN
  4. Switch on the power at the socket (and press the adapters On/Off button if you are using a white TalkTalk Powerline Adapter)
  5. Plug the second adapter into a socket close to the device you’d like to connect to the internet, ensuring you plug into the same circuit in the home
  6. Using the second yellow Ethernet cable, connect one end to the Ethernet port on the Powerline Adapter
  7. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port on the device you’d like to connect to the internet
  8. Switch the power on at the socket (and press the adapter’s On/Off button if you’re using a white TalkTalk Powerline Adapter)

Your Powerline Adapters are now set up.

When connected your setup should look like this:
