If you're unable to control your TV using your TalkTalk remote there are a few steps you can try in order to fix the problem:

  1. Check your batteries to make sure they haven't run out. If your remote has the pink TalkTalk button, see if the red LED lights up with each key press.

  2. If your batteries are working and/or your red LED is working, try to sync your remote.

  3. If your remote won't control your TV after you've synced it, try resetting it with the steps below:

Reset your remote

The steps to reset your remote will vary slightly depending on which remote version you have.

  • Remote V1 and V2 (the ones with a green or blue button in the top right).

Press and hold the OK Button and the YouView power button (top left)   on your TalkTalk remote at the same time until the LED blinks twice then enter 977 using the number buttons. The remote is now reset and you should be able to use it.

  • Remote V3 (the one with the pink TalkTalk button)

Press and hold Digit 1 and Digit 6 on your TalkTalk remote at the same time for 3 seconds. During this time the red LED will remain off. After 3 seconds the red LED turns on, then enter 981 on the remote. After a valid key press sequence the remote LED will blink to confirm it's reset and you should be able to use it.

If you've tried the above and the single button still isn't working, please contact us so we can look into this for you.

If you're using a home entertainment system and have changed your Audio Format to surround sound you won't be able to use your TalkTalk remote to change the volume.  You'll need to control the volume via your Audio System.

To check or change your Audio Format press the YouView Button > Settings > TV signal & quality > HDMI Audio Format and choose your preference.
