Your Wireless Network Name is the name of the wireless connection being sent out by your router. It’s what you should be looking out for when trying to connect to a wireless network from your computer or other wireless enabled device.
The Wireless Password is the wireless key that you will have to type in when trying to connect to your wireless network. You’ll be prompted to enter it when you first try to connect. This is here to stop any unwelcome guests from accessing your network.
If you have a TalkTalk router, then you should find a sticker attached displaying your Wireless Network Name and Password. It’ll look something like the one below:
Please note: these instructions will only work if you have a TalkTalk router. If you have a router from a different supplier, please check with the manufacturer for further help and support.
If you can’t find this sticker or you have already changed your details, then you can find your Wireless Password on the Quick Start Menu. You can also change your Wireless Network Name and Password from the Quick Start Menu to something easier to remember.
1. On your computer or tablet open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.), type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and press Enter on your keyboard
2. Enter admin as the username, and admin as the password (unless you have changed these, in which case use your own log in details)
3. Click Quick Start on the left menu
You’ll find your current password is displayed beside Wireless Network Password. We recommend you make a note of it and put it somewhere safe.
To change your username and password from the Quick Start Menu:
First, simply type your desired Wireless Network Name into the box beside Wireless Network Name (SSID).
This is the name your router will broadcast - and the name your computer and other wireless devices will pick up when looking for a wireless network.
Now type your desired password into the box beside Wireless Network Password.
We recommend you make a note of your new Wireless Network Username and Password and put it somewhere safe so you don’t forget it.
To finalise your changes, click Connect.
Now you’ve changed your details, you’ll need to reconnect to your wireless network. Select the device type you’d like to connect from the list below and follow the instructions:
