TalkTalk Help

How do I retune my Freeview to keep up to date?

New channels come to Freeview all the time, so it’s worth retuning your YouView Box every now and then to check. Retuning your YouView Box will add any new channels to your YouView Guide, pick up any that have moved and will remove any that are no longer running.

You can re-tune your YouView Box at any time. Firstly ensure your aerial is plugged in to your set top box and RF socket*. Make sure that your YouView Box isn't due to start recording a programme before re-tuning, as it may take a few minutes and interrupt your scheduled recordings during that time.

The following steps will guide you through re-tuning the channels on your YouView Box:

  1. Press the YouView YouView button on the TalkTalk remote
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select TV Signal & Quality
  4. Select Re-Tune Channels
  5. Select Start re-tuning

You may also need to select your region. If you do, follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. You’ll now see the number of Freeview channels your YouView Box was able to find and tune on the screen. Select Finish to complete the process

*If you have your aerial tied to other devices within the home please check our RF Loop Settings help.

Remember, you can check the number of Freeview channels you have tuned on your YouView Box at any time by following these steps:

  1. Press the YouView YouView button on the TalkTalk remote
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select TV Signal & Quality
  4. Look at the number displayed next to Number of Channels

Please Note: The number of Freeview channels you receive could depend upon your location in the country and atmospheric conditions.
