While all Freeview channels are transmitted to your TV through your aerial, all catch up TV and specialist Boosts (like our Sky Sports and Sky Movies Boosts) are delivered to your YouView Box through your broadband connection.
We want our customers to get the most from their TalkTalk TV service. That’s why you need at least a broadband speed of 3Mbps to get YouView from TalkTalk. This will let you get uninterrupted access to all the catch up TV for streaming over the internet from your YouView Box.
If you get a speed of over 5Mbps then you should also be able to access premium channels, such as Sky Sports and Sky Movies with our flexible TV boosts. These are streamed straight to your YouView Box over broadband live as it’s happening on TV.
When watching TalkTalk TV it will always get a priority share of the broadband speed. That means it should always have the speeds it needs to provide you with seamless viewing experience though you may find other devices using the internet at the same time may run a little slower.
The best way to check your broadband speed is to visit our speed checker.
There are many ways to improve your broadband speeds. It's also a good idea to visit our service centre to check for any issues that might be affecting your broadband speeds. You'll find helpful step-by-step guides to find and fix the problem.
If you don’t reach the minimum speed of 3Mbps, then unfortunately that means you won’t be able to get YouView from TalkTalk. You can check the speed your line is getting using our speed checker and you may also wish to consider upgrading to Superpowered Fibre Broadband to benefit from faster speeds.
