YouView Speedy Install FAQs

When you order TalkTalk TV you’ll be given the choice of Speedy Install. This allows you to take advantage of our TalkTalk TV service without the need to arrange for an engineer to install your YouView Box.

To find out more, select a question from the list below:

Do I need Powerline Adapters?

You can still enjoy your YouView Box without the use of Powerline Adapters, however they are really useful if there’s a big distance between your YouView Box and your router, or if you don’t want additional cabling running round your house. You can purchase these by visiting the TalkTalk shop. Please note: You’ll need to use TalkTalk Powerline Adapters as these are specifically designed to work with your YouView service.

What is included in my Speedy Install Pack?

The following items should be included. If there's anything missing, please contact us.

  • YouView Box
  • Power cable
  • Remote control
  • Remote control batteries
  • Scart cable
  • Aerial cable
  • HDMI cable
  • User Guide
If you ordered Powerline adapters:  If you haven't ordered Powerline adapters:
  •  2 Powerline Adapters
  • 2 Yellow Ethernet cables
  •  Grey Ethernet cable

When will my YouView Box be delivered?

Your set top box will be despatched by courier service 2-4 days after your broadband service goes live. If you ordered Powerline Adapters, they’ll be delivered as part of the package too.

Once your order is ready for delivery you will receive an SMS with an estimated delivery window. If the window is not convenient you will have the option to delay the delivery. You can also track your delivery online in My Account.

Will I need to sign for the YouView Box on delivery?

Yes, a signature is required for proof of delivery. If you are unavailable to sign for the YouView Box the driver will attempt to deliver to a neighbour to obtain a signature.

What happens if I miss the delivery of my YouView Box?

If you are unavailable at the time of delivery the driver will leave you a card. This will advise you whether the YouView Box has been left with a neighbour or returned to the depot for redelivery.

My router and TV are in different rooms

To benefit from all the features of your YouView Box it needs to be connected to the Internet. If your router is in a different room to your YouView Box then the easiest way to connect them is by using Powerline adapters. Simply plug in an adapter in each room and your router and YouView Box will be connected using your electricity power lines. If you would prefer to use Powerline adapters just let us know when you place your order.

I have changed my mind, can I get an engineer?

It’s not too late to arrange for a BrightSparks engineer to install your YouView Box. You can book your Installation by contacting us, please note you will be charged £50 for the installation.

Why do I need to connect my router to my YouView Box?

Your entertainment is delivered through your TV aerial and your broadband connection. To receive On Demand films and TV shows, as well as Catch Up TV on BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5, you need to connect your YouView Box to a broadband router. You can also add monthly Boosts including Entertainment Boost, Kids Boost and Music Boost as well as Sky Sports and Sky Movies to your package – you’ll just need a minimum broadband speed of 5 Mbps to watch these. You can view our full range of TV Boosts by visiting our website.

Why do I need a TV aerial?

Your Freeview channels and YouView programme guide are delivered through your TV aerial. If you currently receive a good TV signal with stable picture and sound, you’ll be able to receive Freeview using your existing TV aerial. If you need a new aerial or repair work to your existing aerial or cable, you will need a professional aerial engineer. We recommend you check that they are registered and qualified with the Confederation of Aerial Industries trade association or the Registered Digital Installers licensing body
