Your TalkTalk mobile SIM card needs to be active before you can transfer your existing number.
To activate your service, just call 2883 FREE from your TalkTalk mobile. Our secure automated activation process will ask you a personal question to identify you as the mobile service owner. This is free of charge and should be a quick call.
You can also activate your mobile service from a landline telephone. Call 0870 087 8751 to speak to an agent. Have your mobile number to hand as you will need this on the call.
If you are transferring your number from another network you'll need to request a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) from them. If you have fulfilled your contract agreement with them they will give you this free of charge. Please note, if you are still within contract they may charge you to issue a PAC and end your contract early.
It's also a good idea to use up any calls and texts credit with your current network. You'll be able to enjoy our great rates and inclusive minutes, texts and data as soon as your number has been transferred.
You need to activate your SIM for it to appear in My Account. Once activated you can then transfer your existing mobile number to your TalkTalk SIM. This will only take a minute.
Your existing mobile number will be transferred to your TalkTalk SIM and will no longer work on your old SIM. You can then enjoy great value calls and texts using your current number on your TalkTalk SIM.
It doesn't take long to transfer your number but please be aware it can happen at any time on the transfer date. Please check your TalkTalk SIM regularly throughout the day to see if your service is active.
Please note: You may find on your transfer day that not all services will start to work at the same time. You may be able to make calls but not receive them until your port has fully completed on the day. You will also find your voicemail may take a little longer to activate. We recommend rebooting your phone (turn it off and back on again) following a number port. This will refresh all your services on the network.
No, once your existing mobile number has been transferred to your TalkTalk SIM, the mobile number that came with the SIM will no longer work.
If you have used part of your monthly allowance using the TalkTalk mobile number, the remainder of your monthly allowance will be available on your existing number once it has transferred.
You may cancel your request to transfer your mobile number up to 4pm the day before the transfer date. Cancellation requests may only be submitted on a working day, Monday - Friday, 09.00 to 17.00, excluding Bank Holidays
To cancel the transfer and keep the TalkTalk Mobile number instead, log in to My Account, go to Transfer Your Mobile Number and select the cancel button.

If you wish to upgrade your existing TalkTalk mobile SIM only to a TalkTalk handset, just select the TalkTalk SIM you wish to transfer when you place your order. You can upgrade yourself online through MyAccount.
