Setting up TalkTalk email on iPad

The following steps will help you set up your email address on your iPad. If you're not sure what your email address or password is, you can find them in My Account.

You might find after updating your iPhone to a newer version of iOS your email account may stop working. Try deleting the account then adding it again. Simply tap Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars and tap your email account. Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Once you've deleted it, follow the steps below.

Important notice

Please note: Some Apple devices may setup IMAP or POP incorrectly. You may find that if you try and setup IMAP on your device it could use POP3 and vice versa. For more information regarding this setup take a look at Apple support for this issue.

Important notice: To ensure you setup TalkTalk email on your iPad correctly, please follow ALL 13 steps within this article. At step 8 it may appear that you have successfully setup your email account. If you do not complete all steps this will cause the settings to not work.

On your iPad home screen, tap the Settings icon.

Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars on the left hand side, then tap Add Mail Account.

Select Other from the account types, then tap add account.

Tap Add Mail Account, then complete the following sections:

  • Name - Your name needs to go in here.
  • Email - Your email address.
  • Password - Remember this is is case sensitive. If you dont remember your password you can check and manage your email addresses in My Account.

The Description box will automatically show TalkTalk when you have added your details. Click Next to continue.


If you're not sure what your email account details are, you can find them in My Account.

Tap IMAP which will turn blue to show it's selected.

On the same screen as step 5, scroll down to check your settings are correct as below:

Outgoing Mail Server:

Tap Save.

You may see this message when your iPad is verifying your settings. Tap Yes to try setting up your account without SSL.

A message may appear saying the outgoing server is reserved for 02. Tap Next.

Important notice

Important notice: At this stage you may think you have setup TalkTalk email for your iPad, but you need to continue to follow the steps below in order to be setup successfully.

In order to view your emails on the go you'll need to change your SMTP settings. Tap TalkTalk.

Tap SMTP under the primary server header.

Select TalkTalk

Change your details to the following:

  • Username: Your TalkTalk email address

  • Password: Your TalkTalk email password

  • Slide the SSL to OFF.

  • Authentication: Password.

  • Server Port: 587

Tap Done.

You can access your emails by tapping the envelope icon on your iPad home screen.
