Manually entering mobile phone settings

If you've purchased a handset directly from TalkTalk your Internet and picture messaging settings will either be pre-loaded or for the majority of handsets, will be automatically sent when the SIM is inserted into the handset. You'll first receive a warm up SMS welcoming you to TalkTalk followed by Configuration settings which you will need to install and save.

SIM only customers will also receive settings automatically if the handset being used is compatible with our service. It is also worth checking that you are using the most up to date software on your handset.

You can also request settings to be sent automatically to your handset by texting TALK to 40127 where you will need to Install and save them following the on screen instructions.


How do I input settings manually?

All feature phones behave differently. Your handset user guide is the best place to start to understand where to input TalkTalk settings. Alternatively check the Manufacturer's support pages and YouTube videos where further information can be found.

Once you have input the settings please ensure you SAVE them.


Internet Settings

  • Access Point Name (APN):
  • Username: wap
  • Password: wap
  • Session type: Continuous / permanent
  • Authentication: Normal
  • Network type: Ipv4
  • Security: Off
  • Gateway (IP) address:
  • Port number: 8799

Picture Message (MMS) Settings

  • Access Point Name (APN):
  • Proxy: Not set
  • Port: Not set
  • Username: Not set
  • Password: Not set
  • Authentication Protocol: Not set
  • Server: Not set
  • MMSC Message Server:
  • MMS Proxy:
  • MMS Port: 8799
  • MCC: 234
  • MNC: 15
  • APN Type: *

If you have trouble sending and receiving MMS with the above settings, please enter wap for the username and wap for the password and try again.
