How to use all our parental control products together

Keeping your children safe from accessing inappropriate content is important to every parent. It's equally important to stop your children from having too much screen time. In this article we'll explain how to use our parental control products together to protect your children whether they are at home or out and about.

We have two types of products that help keep your children's web experience safe and healthy. First, we have network parental controls that protect all devices on your network. Second, we have device parental controls that work on specific devices whether they are connected to your network or not.

Network parental controls

Customers on our Fibre 35 and Fibre 65 plans can use the KidSafe feature of HomeSafe to set filtering rules that apply to every device that is connected to your home network. This is especially effective for devices that are only ever used in the home, like TVs and smart speakers. There is also the Homework Time feature that can be used to schedule breaks from gaming and social media sites.

Customers on our Future Fibre plans can use the parental controls in our Amazon eero mesh Wi-fi. Eero can be used to set different filtering rules for each device on your network and even comes with pre-defined filters for different age groups. Once you have set up your mesh Wi-fi, you can use the 'eero Secure' section of the eero app to configure content filters for each of your devices. Eero can also schedule breaks from the web for different users, for example you can switch off internet access for all your children's devices after bedtime without affecting your own.

Device parental controls

If you want to protect your children when they are using their devices away your home network then you need to have a security app installed. Our SuperSafe Online Defence app includes parental controls that allow you to block inappropriate sites from your children's devices wherever they are. You can also use the Online Defence app to set time limits for different apps, so you can limit your children's use of social media apps without stopping them from being able to call you in an emergency.
